Created by U.S. Congress, the East-West Center promotes better relations and understanding between the United States and the nations of Asia and the Pacific through cooperative study, training and research.
MarBEC
MarBEC, a partnership between the University of Hawaii at Manoa and the University of California at Berkley, is a National Science Foundation Engineering Research Center located at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. MarBEC trains students with a cross-disciplinary approach integrating science and engineering.
MHPCC
MHPCC is an Air Force Research Laboratory Center managed by the University of Hawaii. Ranked as one of the top twenty supercomputer sites in the world, MHPCC provides world-class, parallel computing capability to the research, science, and warfighter communities.
OTTED
OTTED is a service-oriented revenue center organized for the purpose of helping UH faculty, staff, and students identify, protect, and commercialize the University's intellectual property assets so that they can benefit society and spur economic growth for our State and national economies.
PBRC
PBRC is the third largest research institute in the University of Hawaii system, with a mission to encourage and foster research in diverse fields of biology and medicine.
PCATT
PCATT is a non-profit branch of the University of Hawaii Community Colleges created to develop and provide training in advanced technology applications that enhance economic and workforce development programs and initiatives in the State of Hawai'i and the Pacific Rim.
RCUH
RCUH is a state agency attached to the University of Hawaii to support the research and training programs of the University of Hawaii and to enhance research, development, and training generally in Hawaii.
University of Hawaii Connections
University of Hawaii Connections was founded to help connect entrepreneurs inside and outside the University of Hawaii with the resources they need to succeed.
PBC
The PBC is a program developed as a joint effort of the US Department of Commerce and the University of Hawaii. PBC provides diverse management and technical assistance to entrepreneurs, companies, government agencies and not-for-profit organizations starting-up, revitalizing or expanding private sector business in the Pacific Island communities.
Pacific New Media
Pacific New Media is a program of the University of Hawaii Outreach College, providing digital and media education at its two locations, the UH Manoa campus and the UH Downtown center at 900 Pioneer Plaza in Honolulu. PNM presents classes and workshops taught by a group of nationally recognized professionals, offering participants the tools they need to excel in their chosen fields.
CRCH
CRCH is one of only 61 National Cancer Institute (NCI) - designated cancer centers nationwide. CRCH is one of the most successful research institutes at the University of Hawaii.
IPRC
IPRC provides an international, state-of-the-art research environment to improve understanding of the nature and predictability of climate variability and regional aspects of global environmental change in the Asia-Pacific sector.
HURL
HURL's mission is to study deep water marine process in the Pacific Ocean, and operates programs in habitats, ecosystems and fisheries resources; submarine volcanic processes; coral reefs, marine carbonates and ferromanganese oxides; and coastal and slope processes. HURL is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's National Research Center for Hawaii and the Western Pacific, and participates in international collaborative research projects in the Pacific.
'Imiloa Astronomy Education Center
'Imiloa Astronomy Education Center is the premier facility for sharing the discoveries of the deepest mysteries of the universe being unraveled by the world's most important collection of telescopes atop the summit of Mauna Kea. 'Imiloa Astronomy Education Center educates students, teachers and the community while presenting a global vision of integrated scientific technological and cultural leadership for 21st century America.
Hawaii Institute of Maine Biology
The Hawaii Institute of Maine Biology is a world-renowned research institute within the University of Hawaii's School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology. Situated on Coconut Island in Kaneohe Bay, ongoing research at HIMB covers many disciplines of tropical marine science.
HIGP
HIGP is a technology-based research unit at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, operating at the forefront of Earth and planetary research. HIGP's vision to serve society by acquiring and disseminating new knowledge about the Earth and planets, and the State of Hawaii by introducing leading edge technologies to the economy of the state. HIGP's mission is to solve fundamental problems in Earth and Planetary Science by the application and development of state-of-the-art exploration, measurement, and analysis technologies.
Hawai`i Space Grant Consortium
Chartered under the National Space Grant College and Fellowship Program, the Hawai`i Space Grant Consortium is developing interdisciplinary education, research, and public service programs related to space science, earth science, remote sensing, human exploration and development of space, and aerospace technology. The Hawaii Space Grant Consortium accomplishes this through a variety of programs: undergraduate research fellowships and traineeships, innovative college courses, workshops for educators, educational web sites, public exhibitions, lectures, tours, primary school programs, space-themed summer camps for families, and more.
HNEI
HNEI is a research unit of the University of Hawaii established by the Hawaii State Legislature in 1974. HNEI's mandate is to undertake and coordinate research and development of the islands' renewable energy resources. Current research programs include hydrogen, fuel cells, ocean resources, photovoltaics, biomass, biotechnology, and renewable energy systems.
ISLA
ISLA is responsible for the operation and maintenance of IS59, or KONA, a 4-element infrasound array that is part of the International Monitoring System (IMS) of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT). Due to its unique location in the shadow of Hawaiis massive volcanoes, the KONA array has exceptionally low ambient noise levels and acoustic detection thresholds.
Collaborative Software Development Laboratory
The Collaborative Software Development Laboratory is located in the University of Hawaii's Department of Information and Computer Sciences, and performs research and development related to advanced software engineering. CSDL research has been sponsored by a variety of organizations including the National Science Foundation, NASA, Sun Microsystems, and IBM. The tools and techniques developed within CSDL since 1990 are in use world-wide.
